Service 04 — Mobile App Development

Mobile apps people keep.

The average user keeps a new app for about a week — unless it earns its place on the home screen. We design and develop iOS and Android apps with the UX discipline, performance, and launch strategy to survive that first week and become a daily habit, from MVP validation to scale.

Overview

Strategy, design, and engineering — one team

A great app is three products in one: a business strategy that justifies its existence, an experience people enjoy, and software that performs. We handle all three, so nothing gets lost between the strategist, the designer, and the developer.

The right platform decision, made honestly

Native (Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android) delivers maximum performance and deepest OS integration. Cross-platform (Flutter or React Native) ships to both stores from one codebase — faster and more affordably, with quality that's near-native for most product types. For the majority of MVPs and business apps, cross-platform is the right call, and we'll recommend it. But when your product needs AR, heavy Bluetooth work, intensive media processing, or platform-specific experiences, we'll tell you native is worth the investment — and explain exactly why.

Either way, the backend is built API-first, so your app, your website, and future integrations all consume the same services. Today's mobile MVP becomes tomorrow's platform without a rewrite.

Mobile UX that earns the home screen

Mobile design is unforgiving: small screens, distracted users, and an uninstall button always one tap away. We design for thumb zones and one-handed use, ruthlessly short onboarding that gets users to value in under a minute, and navigation patterns that follow platform conventions — because familiarity converts better than novelty. Performance is a UX feature: we optimize cold-start times, keep animations at 60fps, and design offline-first experiences with graceful sync, so the app works in elevators, basements, and patchy network coverage.

Retention is engineered, not hoped for. Push notifications are designed as a system — triggered, personalized, and frequency-capped — rather than a broadcast channel users mute. Empty states teach, error states recover gracefully, and every flow is instrumented so we know exactly where users drop off and why.

Launch, measurement, and iteration

Shipping to the stores is a project in itself, and we run it end to end: App Store Connect and Google Play Console setup, certificates and signing, store listings with conversion-focused copy and screenshots, and App Store Optimization covering keywords, categories, and ratings strategy. We navigate Apple's review process — including rejections and required revisions — so you don't have to learn its quirks the hard way.

From day one, analytics and crash reporting are wired in: activation funnels, retention cohorts, feature usage, and crash-free session rates. Post-launch, we iterate in sprint cycles against real data — the features users love get doubled down on, the ones they ignore get cut or redesigned. That's how an MVP becomes a product people keep.

What's included

From idea to the app stores

  • Product & platform strategy Native vs. cross-platform recommendation, MVP scoping, and a fixed written spec.
  • Mobile UX/UI design Wireframes to polished interfaces following iOS and Android design conventions.
  • iOS & Android development Flutter/React Native cross-platform or native Swift/Kotlin — built for performance.
  • Backend & APIs API-first backend with auth, data sync, and integrations your app needs to function.
  • Push notification system Triggered, personalized notifications with frequency controls users won't mute.
  • App store submission & ASO Listings, screenshots, metadata, review handling, and keyword optimization.
  • Analytics & crash reporting Activation, retention, and crash-free metrics wired in from the first build.
  • Beta testing program TestFlight and Play Console beta tracks with structured feedback collection.
  • Security & data privacy Secure storage, encrypted transit, and privacy practices aligned with store policies.
  • Maintenance & update plans OS compatibility, dependency patches, and feature sprints after launch.

How we work

Validated, then built, then grown

  1. Validate We pressure-test the concept: audience, core journey, monetization, and what the MVP must prove — before any code.
  2. Design User flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI validated with clickable prototypes you can actually tap through.
  3. Build in sprints Two-week sprints with TestFlight/Play Console builds — you're testing real software throughout.
  4. Test & harden Device-matrix QA, performance profiling, security review, and beta feedback folded back in.
  5. Launch & grow Store submission, ASO, launch monitoring, then data-driven iteration sprints against retention metrics.

Why Tayr Digital

One team from prototype to product-market fit

App projects usually split across a designer, an app developer, a backend developer, and a marketing agency — four vendors, four timelines, four versions of the truth. We keep strategy, design, mobile and backend engineering, and launch marketing under one roof. Decisions that would take a week of cross-vendor email happen in a single standup.

We also think past the launch date. Retention analytics, ASO, phased roadmaps, and honest advice on what not to build — our job isn't shipping version 1.0, it's getting you to the version users refuse to delete. And you own everything: source code, store accounts, backend infrastructure, and all IP, from day one.

  • Design + mobile + backend in-house No cross-vendor handoffs — one team owns the whole product.
  • Store submission handled end-to-end Listings, review process, and rejections managed for you.
  • Analytics from day one Activation, retention, and crash metrics — never flying blind.
  • 100% ownership Source code, store accounts, and IP are yours — no lock-in.
  • Phased, de-risked roadmaps MVP first, validated features next — investment follows evidence.

FAQ

App questions, answered straight

Native or cross-platform — which should I choose?+

For most products, cross-platform (Flutter or React Native) is the right call: one codebase ships to iOS and Android faster and cheaper, with near-native quality. Go native (Swift/Kotlin) when you need maximum performance, deep OS integration like AR or Bluetooth, or platform-specific experiences. We recommend based on your product's demands — not our preferences — and we'll tell you honestly when native is worth it.

What does a mobile MVP include?+

A mobile MVP covers one core user journey done brilliantly: account/auth, the primary feature set, essential backend APIs, push notifications if the use case demands them, and analytics from day one. Deliberately excluded: edge-case features, admin tooling beyond basics, and polish that can wait for real user feedback. The goal is learning in users' hands, not perfection in a staging build.

Do you help with app store approval?+

Yes — end to end. We prepare store listings, screenshots, and metadata; configure App Store Connect and Google Play Console; handle certificates, signing, and review submissions; and manage rejections if they happen (Apple's review in particular can require revisions). We also advise on App Store Optimization: keywords, ratings strategy, and conversion-focused listing copy.

How long does it take to build an app?+

A focused MVP typically takes 10–14 weeks from approved spec to store submission, including design, development, testing, and the review process (Apple's review alone can take several days). Complex apps with custom backends, integrations, or advanced features run longer. We work in two-week sprints with TestFlight/Play Console builds, so you're testing real software throughout — not waiting for a reveal.

What drives the cost of an app?+

Five things dominate cost: platform strategy (one cross-platform codebase vs. two native apps), backend complexity (simple APIs vs. real-time systems), integrations (payments, maps, third-party services), design ambition (standard patterns vs. bespoke interactions), and compliance needs (health, finance, or children's data add real work). We scope against a written spec with fixed pricing, so you see exactly what each driver costs before committing.

Do you offer maintenance after launch?+

Yes. Every build includes a warranty period, and our maintenance plans cover OS compatibility updates (iOS and Android break things yearly), dependency and security patches, crash monitoring and fixes, store listing updates, and ongoing feature development in sprint cycles. An unmaintained app rots fast on mobile — we keep yours current.
